Most graduate programs don’t have waiting lists. Many do trickle out their acceptance letters over time, so don’t be discouraged if others receive acceptance letters when you have not.
If you have not been accepted, and your academic record has improved or you got a paper accepted, it might help to inform a prospective advisor, the director of the graduate program, or the chair of graduate admissions.
