According to the National Science Foundation’s 2021 Survey of Earned Doctorates, 57% of the 984 new PhD recipients in computer and information sciences who reported their employment status took jobs in industry, 23% became postdoctoral researchers, 16% started faculty positions, 10% went abroad, and 4% did something else.
